So I thought I’d share with ya a little bit of the art/OCD process that goes into some of the opening pages of this fun little book. I had just finished with the interiors, covers (front and back), etc., when I realized the book didn’t have a title page. So I thought alright I’ll do something with a cool looking machine with Tesla coils and a dark backdrop with the titles and credits over it. And Badaboom Badabing, a fun Mad Scientist machine.
Then the artist/OCD kicks in and I decided to add a fun looking castle interior backdrop out of a Frankenstein movie. Which was cool, but looked like it was missing something…
Some Classic Horror-Movie ambassadors for the book. And who better than Vincent Price and the Bride of Frankenstein to welcome everyone in.
It’s fun once in a while to go with the flow and see where your creativity takes ya.
Can’t wait to see what it looks like after it’s Digitally Painted.
Yaaaaaaaaaayyyy! Let’s hear it for Hot Busty Bird-Women Assassins!
(Hot Busty Bird-Women Assassins?) You heard it right!
Some very fun Cover-art of Queen Sicari for Knightingail Vol 2 Cover #1 with pencils by me and Beautiful digital paints by the Super talented and very cool Kate Finnegan.
Love the feel of the light-rays shining through.
Enjoy the colors and the line-arrrrrrrt-
Queen Sicari character sheet for the main baddie/assassin in Knightingail Vol 2.
Original character designs from the interior artist started out with her looking like “Big Bird” with huge implants.
I politely freaked the-F-out and said “Oh hell no! There’s no way this is not gonna look weird and just F-ing creepy on multiple levels. I mean how the hell I’m I supposed to make Big Bird with Giant Boobs look cool and not creepy?! Nope, Nope, Nope! It’s not gonna work!”
So the writer/creator was cool about it and asked if I could do up a version of her that would work, but still had bird qualities, and… Ta-Da! The new and improved Queen Sicari was born! Love the headdress!!
(*And subsequently the interior artist went about sending me death-threats upon realizing they’d have to replicate that costume several hundred times over the duration of the book.
But hey, it looks fun.(Just don’t get me started on the hands. Not my choice, I know, you need like 4 digits to be able to pick up a weapon like that, or hell just to dress yourself. But I digress.)
Knightingail vol 2 COVER #001 From concept to colors.
Finally get to post the Cover-art for Knightingail Vol 2 Cover #1 with pencils by me and Beautiful digital paints by the Super talented and very cool Kate Finnegan.
I had a great opportunity to do some cover-work and character designs for this very fun series. Really like the feel of fun and adventure with this particular cover.
Loved doing the jewel mine background with all the roller-coaster style mine-cart tracts zig-zagging all over. Like the mine in Snow White, but on steroids.
